Play Is How Children Learn Here

At the STRAUSS ECE, play is not separate from learning. It is how children explore ideas, build relationships, practice new skills and make sense of the world around them. When children are actively involved in something that interests them, learning becomes meaningful and memorable.

A block structure can introduce balance, measurement and problem-solving. Dramatic play strengthens language, imagination and cooperation. Painting and sculpting encourage creativity, decision-making and fine-motor development. Music and movement build coordination, listening and confidence. These experiences allow children to develop several skills at the same time rather than learning each one in isolation.

Our teachers bring intention to every part of the experience. They observe what captures children’s attention, prepare environments that invite exploration and introduce materials, language and questions that extend children’s thinking. They know when to offer support and when to give a child the time and space to try independently.

From a baby forming their first trusting relationships to a Pre-K child preparing for kindergarten, our approach supports the whole child—socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually. Guided by Jewish values and welcoming families of all backgrounds, we create a community where children feel secure, capable and excited to learn.
